Ans. No, there is no difference between the games and the way they are played by the boys and girls. There is only one difference boys play faster than girls because they are stronger.

Ans. No, I don’t, think that games for boys and girls be different because they will promote gender inequality.

Ans. Yes, I have been a part of the cricket team at my school. We often played with cricket teams of other schools in our town.

2. What is the difference between playing for yourself and playing for the team?

Ans. Playing for ourselves and playing for the team are quite different. When we play for the team there is a sense of responsibility. Playing for the team generates enthusiasm in us, and also it develops a sense of cooperation and unity among the members of the team.

3. While playing in a team would you like to play for yourself or the team?

Ans. I would like to play for the team and not for myself because making the team win is a matter of pride for me. It fills me and my teammates with joy and promotes a feeling of unity and cooperation among us.

4. Is your team like the team Afsana played with at Sholapur or like the Nagpada team? How?

Ans. Our team is like the Nagpada team because we have a good understanding of each other. All the members of our team respect each other and help each other. We never scold each other for their mistakes.

Ans. Yes, I was part of the cricket team of my school and participated in many competitions. It was a feeling of honour for me. It is a matter of joy and pride for me.

Ans. Yes, I went to several places with my school team. Some of these places were good to visit while other places were not much good.

3. Have you seen matches played between India and other countries? Which ones?

Ans. Yes, I have seen many cricket matches played between India and other countries. I like to watch cricket matches.

4. We all know about the cricketers of India, and we like them. Do people also know and like the Indian players who play some other games (Yes or No) What do you feel about it? Do you know the players of the Indian football or Kabaddi team?

Ans. No, the people don’t know much about the players of India who play different games unless they have achieved something big at the international level. This is because so much importance and respect are given to cricket in our country. I don’t know the players of Indian football or the Kabaddi team.

Ans. It will be a total injustice to the girls if they are not allowed to play games, study or do some other work of their choice. It will promote gender biases or inequality. Also, they will not be able to express themselves, will feel dejected and will not grow well physically or mentally.

2. How would you feel if you were not allowed to take part in some games or drama?

Ans. If I were not allowed to take part in some games or drama, it would have made me sad and dejected. I would not have been able to concentrate on my studies too.

Ans. The world would be dull and biased if girls never got a chance to take part in games, drama or dance because everyone has equal rights. It will be a total injustice to girls. 

7. Do you know of any woman or girl who you would want to be like when you grow up? (Think of names other than a film actor or a model)

Ans. Yes, I would like to be Saina Nehwal. She is a famous badminton player from India.

1. The newspaper report said, “Afsana has jumped over the wall. The gender wall that her mother had put up for her” Think and write in your own words what was this wall? What do you understand by ‘gender bias’?

Ans. Afsana comes from a poor family. Her mother works in the houses of other people for her livelihood. According to her girls should not play basketball. She suggested that Afsana attend school and work hard in her studies. The gender wall that Afsana’s put up between her Jhuggi and basketball court was that she confined that physical games are only for boys and so she did not want Afsana to play basketball.

The term “gender bias” means treating boys and girls differently. For example, confining physical games like basketball, football or cricket only to boys. Not only in games in every field if priority is given to a particular gender, but it will also be counted as gender biases.
