Introduction
There are three cousins namely Ahmad, Raja, Simran and Riyan in the chapter. Their grandfather narrated to them a story of one of the wisest kings of Kashmir, Budshah. He was known for his historic, administrative, civic and educational reforms. He was the eighth king of the Shahmir dynasty and the third son of Sultan Sikander. Budshah the Great Summary in English
The four cousins in the story are having a chat about the story that Dadaji was going to narrate in the evening. Ahmad told them that Dadaji will narrate the story about one of the greatest kings of Kashmir. When Dadaji returned from the evening walk, children reminded Dadaji of narrating a story to them. Dadaji started narrating a story about Budshah.
Kashmir has been ruled by many kings. One of the wisest kings that ever-ruled Kashmir was Budshah. He was famous for his work along with a peaceful and prosperous reign for more than fifty years.
Simran asked about Budshah. Dadaji told children that the original name of Budshah was Shahi khan. He was the eighth king of the Shahmir dynasty. He was third son of Sultan Sikander and Meeraj. Budshah first came to power only for three months and later his elder brother took away the kingdom. Then there was a battle between Budshah and his elder brother Ali Shah which was won by Budshah.
Budshah was not only brave but was also intelligent and a good human being. He developed friendly relations with neighbouring countries like Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Egypt and Tibet. Zain-ul Abideen was appreciated as king by the rulers of Bengal, Gujarat, Gwalior, Malwa and Nasik.
Raja asked about the speciality of the king. Dadaji told that there were a lot of special things about the king. People gave him the title Budshah and is popularly known as Budshah, even after more than 500 years. He reduced the tax paid by the people to half. He built many places of worship apart from colleges and universities. His priority was to give basic facilities to the people.
Dadaji told children that Budshah ruled for 52 years and his period of reign was known for peace and development. He laid a network of canals and watercourses in different parts of the state. He built a magnificent twelve-storeyed at Naushahr which was gutted in the fire. He also rebuilt the town of Sopore and repaired the partly reconstructed the great Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta.
He also built some of the great bridges in Srinagar. The bridge Zainakadal is named after his name Zain-ul-Abideen. He was influenced by Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Wali (RA). He was also fond of language and literature. He wrote Persian prose and poetry under the pen name Qutb.
The great works like the Mahabharata, the Rajatrangini, the history of Kashmir written by Kalhana and translation of Puranas into Persian took place in his reign. He also encouraged painting, calligraphy and music. After his death on 12th May, 1470 his son Haji Khan became the new Sultan of Kashmir.

कहानी के चारों चचेरे भाई उस कहानी के बारे में बातचीत कर रहे हैं जो दादाजी शाम को सुनाने वाले थे। अहमद ने उन्हें बताया कि दादाजी कश्मीर के सबसे महान राजाओं में से एक के बारे में कहानी सुनाएंगे। जब दादाजी शाम की सैर से लौटे तो बच्चों ने दादाजी को कहानी सुनाने की याद दिला दी। दादाजी ने बुद्धशाह के बारे में एक कहानी सुनाना शुरू किया।
कश्मीर पर कई राजाओं का शासन रहा है। सबसे बुद्धिमान राजाओं में से एक जिसने कभी कश्मीर पर बुदशाह के रूप में शासन किया। वह पचास से अधिक वर्षों तक शांतिपूर्ण और समृद्ध शासन के साथ-साथ अपने काम के लिए प्रसिद्ध थे।
सिमरन ने बुद्धशाह के बारे में पूछा। दादाजी ने बच्चों को बताया कि बुद्धशाह का असली नाम शाही खान था। वह शाहमीर वंश के आठवें राजा थे। वह सुल्तान सिकंदर और मीराज के तीसरे पुत्र थे। बुद्धशाह पहले केवल तीन महीने के लिए सत्ता में आया और बाद में उसके बड़े भाई ने राज्य छीन लिया। फिर बुद्धशाह और उसके बड़े भाई अली शाह के बीच युद्ध हुआ जिसे बुदशाह ने जीत लिया।
बुद्धशाह बहादुर ही नहीं बल्कि बुद्धिमान और अच्छे इंसान भी थे। उन्होंने अफगानिस्तान, ईरान, इराक, मिस्र और तिब्बत जैसे पड़ोसी देशों के साथ मैत्रीपूर्ण संबंध विकसित किए। ज़ैन-उल आबिदीन को बंगाल, गुजरात, ग्वालियर, मालवा और नासिक के शासकों द्वारा राजा के रूप में सराहा गया।
राजा ने राजा की विशेषता के बारे में पूछा। दादाजी ने बताया कि राजा के बारे में कई खास बातें थीं। लोगों ने उन्हें बुदशाह की उपाधि दी और 500 से अधिक वर्षों के बाद भी लोकप्रिय रूप से बुदशाह के नाम से जाना जाता है। उन्होंने लोगों द्वारा दिए जाने वाले कर को घटाकर आधा कर दिया। उन्होंने कॉलेजों और विश्वविद्यालयों के अलावा कई पूजा स्थलों का निर्माण किया। लोगों को मूलभूत सुविधाएं देना उनकी प्राथमिकता थी।
दादाजी ने बच्चों को बताया कि बुद्धशाह ने 52 वर्षों तक शासन किया और उनका शासन काल शांति और विकास के लिए जाना जाता था। उन्होंने राज्य के विभिन्न भागों में नहरों और जलस्रोतों का जाल बिछाया। उसने नौशहर में एक शानदार बारह मंजिला बनवाया जो आग में जल कर खाक हो गया। उन्होंने सोपोर शहर का पुनर्निर्माण भी किया और नौहट्टा में आंशिक रूप से पुनर्निर्मित महान जामिया मस्जिद की मरम्मत की।
उन्होंने श्रीनगर में कुछ महान पुलों का भी निर्माण किया। जैनकदल पुल का नाम उनके हमी ज़ैन-उल-अबिदीन के नाम पर रखा गया है। वह शेख नूर-उद-दीन वाली (आरए) से प्रभावित था। उन्हें भाषा और साहित्य का भी शौक था। उन्होंने कुतुब नाम से फारसी गद्य और कविता लिखी।
महाभारत, राजतरंगिणी, कल्हण द्वारा लिखित कश्मीर का इतिहास और पुराणों का फारसी में अनुवाद जैसे महान कार्य उनके शासनकाल में हुए। उन्होंने चित्रकला, सुलेख और संगीत को भी प्रोत्साहित किया। 12 मई, 1470 को उनकी मृत्यु के बाद उनका पुत्र हाजी खान कश्मीर का नया सुल्तान बना।
