Poem 8 Meeting Poets (By Eunice de Souza)
Meeting poets, I am disconcerted sometimes:
By the colour of their socks,
The suspicion of a wig,
The wasp in the voice,
And an air, sometimes of dankness.
Best to meet in poems:
Cool speckled shells
In which one hears
A sad but distant sea.

Summary of Poem Meeting Poets in English
The poem ‘Meeting Poets’ has been written by an Indian poetess Eunice de Souza. In this poem, she tells us not to judge one thing regarding another. She particularly talks about poets. She says that we should not judge poets by their appearances but by their poetry.
According to the poetess (poets) are very complex people. They look shabby and behave strangely. They hardly care about their dress and personality. The colour of their socks and the way they wear a wig are quite awkward. They use bitter and harsh voices in their speech. The manner and appearance of poets are unpleasant but their poems are beautiful pieces of art.
In the last lines of the poem, the poet advises that we must judge the writers by their works of art because their poetry always appears beautiful. Poetry is different from the appearance of the poets and distant from them like the sea shells from the sea but one could hear the sea in the same shells.

His poems Daffodils and Solitary Reaper have left an indelible impression in my mind.
He was born on 7th April 1770 in England. He always emphasised writing about nature, children, and common people.
