Ans. The people in Madho’s village fetch water for drinking from far-off ponds. Sometimes, a train carrying water comes to the village. Madho’s father goes to fetch water in his camel cart. Some people collect rainwater by making a special type of tank called tanka.
2. Who fetches water in Madho’s house?
Ans. Madho’s mother and sister fetch water from a far-off pond in Madho’s house. Madho’s father sometimes also goes to fetch water in his camel cart. Madho also fetches water from one of the tankas of the village.

Ans. The water collected in the tanka is mostly used for drinking because rainwater is the pure form of water and it is filtered before being collected in the tanka.

Ans. Yes, there can be some other method of collecting water. Water can be collected in tanks, drums, buckets, etc. Water can also be collected by setting up rooftop water collection units.

Ans. We can save water by following ways.
- Close the tap when not in use.
- Seal the leakage in pipes if any.
- Avoid bathing under running tap water.
- Avoid wastage of water.
- Reuse the water left after washing clothes, and vegetables to water the garden plants.
- Avoid washing your vehicles with running water pipes.
