In the poem, “Happy Trees” the poet describes the impact of deforestation on wild animals and our earth. We human beings are cutting forests indiscriminately for our uses without caring for its consequences. There are five stanzas in the poem. When the animals saw mighty saws in the hands of men, they got frightened because these men were going to cut down the trees. The animals pleaded in front of men by folding their paws.

The animals request men not to cut the trees for making furniture for themselves. They describe the ill effects of deforestation on animals. The birds and the squirrel will have no place to live in absence of trees. Also, there will be no shade to stand and the heat of the sun will convert the earth into a desert.

After hearing the request of trees, the men left their saws and all the trees and animals became happy. The trees began to sway in happiness.

कविता “हैप्पी ट्रीज़” में कवि जंगली जानवरों और हमारी पृथ्वी पर वनों की कटाई के प्रभाव का वर्णन करता है। हम मनुष्य इसके परिणामों की परवाह किए बिना अपने उपयोग के लिए अंधाधुंध जंगलों को काट रहे हैं। कविता में पाँच छंद हैं। जब जानवरों ने मनुष्यों के हाथों में शक्तिशाली आरी देखी, तो वे डर गए, क्योंकि ये लोग पेड़ों को काटने जा रहे थे। जानवरों ने अपने पंजे मोड़कर पुरुषों के सामने मिन्नतें कीं।

जानवर पुरुषों से अनुरोध करते हैं कि वे अपने लिए फर्नीचर बनाने के लिए पेड़ों को न काटें। वे जानवरों पर वनों की कटाई के दुष्प्रभावों का वर्णन करते हैं। पेड़ों के अभाव में पक्षियों और गिलहरियों के पास रहने के लिए कोई जगह नहीं होगी। साथ ही खड़े रहने के लिए कोई छाया नहीं होगी और सूरज की गर्मी पृथ्वी को रेगिस्तान में बदल देगी।

वृक्षों की विनती सुनकर मनुष्य अपनी आरी छोड़कर चले गए और सभी वृक्ष और पशु प्रसन्न हो गए। पेड़ खुशी से झूमने लगे।
