Global warming is a common term used today, especially in print and electronic media. It refers to the rising temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere and oceans and its related effects. In the last hundred years, the Earth’s average surface temperature has increased by about 0.8°C (1.4°F) with about two-thirds of the increase occurring over just the last three decades. One of the major reasons cited is the increasing concentration of greenhouse gases produced by human activities, such as; deforestation and the burning of fossil fuels.
