Lal Ded (1320-1392) was a renowned Kashmiri poet of the fourteenth century. She was born in Padmanpore near Pampore in the Pulwama district. Lal Ded is also named Lalla, Lal Arifa, Lalleshwari, Lal Yogeshwari, and Lalla the great.
She is the most respected and renowned saint-poet of Kashmir famous for her Vaakhs. This saint-poet (a woman) of Kashmir was married at age of 12 but the marriage did not prove a happy chapter of her life. At the age of 24 years, she left her home to take renunciation and desired to know God.
She was a mystic of the Shaivite Sect and a Sufi saint. He wrote mystic poetry called Vaakhs. Vaakh is a short poem of four lines structured around a particular theme. Lal Ded created the mystic poetry called Vaakhs or Lal Vaakhs. In her vaakhs, there are the best teachings for mankind in the modern world. Her poetry is considered as earliest composition in the Kashmiri language and played an important role in Kashmiri literature.
Her vaakhs tell us about the relationship between man and God. She advises people not to be influenced by the pleasures which keep one away from God. लाल देद (1320-1392) चौदहवीं शताब्दी के एक प्रसिद्ध कश्मीरी कश्मीरी कवयित्री थीं। उनका जन्म पुलवामा जिले के पंपोर के पास पद्मनपुर में हुआ था। लाल देद को लल्ला, लाल आरिफा, लल्लेश्वरी, लाल योगेश्वरी और लल्ला महान भी कहा जाता है। वह अपने वाखों के लिए प्रसिद्ध कश्मीर की सबसे सम्मानित और प्रसिद्ध संत-कवि थीं। कश्मीर के इस संत-कवि (एक महिला) की शादी 12 साल की उम्र में हो गई थी लेकिन यह शादी उनके जीवन का सुखद अध्याय साबित नहीं हुई। 24 वर्ष की आयु में उन्होंने सन्यास लेने के लिए अपना घर छोड़ दिया और ईश्वर को जानने की इच्छा की।
